North Brookfield Savings Bank Sponsors North Brookfield 200th Anniversary Celebration

At a recent gathering at North Brookfield Savings Bank, the Town of North Brookfield's 200th Anniversary Committee was presented with a check from the Bank to assist with the Town's year-long bicentennial celebration. Present were (left to right) John "Bud" Lane, Chairman of the Bank's Board of Trustees, President and Chief Executive Officer Donna Boulanger, and Trustee Betsy Cuddy. They were joined by Town of North Brookfield Selectman Mary Walter, Town Clerk Sheila Buzzell, and Dr. Louis B. Grace, members of the North Brookfield 200th Anniversary Committee.

The Town of North Brookfield, incorporated on February 28, 1812, is celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2012 and the Town's 200th Anniversary Committee has planned several celebrations throughout the year to commemorate this historic event.

These celebrations will be made possible through the sponsorship of North Brookfield Savings Bank. Recently, members of the Town's 200th Anniversary Committee were invited to the Bank's headquarters where they were presented with a check for $6,300 to support the cause.

Donna Boulanger, president and CEO of North Brookfield Savings Bank, voiced her support. "North Brookfield's 200th anniversary is a very exciting time in the town's history and we are thrilled to play an active role not only through this sponsorship but through the celebrations," said Boulanger. "North Brookfield Savings Bank itself was incorporated here in 1854 and has always strongly supported this town as well as the surrounding communities into which we have grown."

Boulanger went on to say, "In 2010 and 2011 we were happy to sponsor the celebrations of the Quaboag Plantation's 350th anniversary and the 250th anniversaries of the Town of Ware and the Town of Belchertown. We are equally pleased now to sponsor the commemoration right here in North Brookfield, where North Brookfield Savings Bank first established its own roots."

The Bank's Chairman of the Board, John Lane, remarked, "We're a small community bank that has consistently supported the community throughout the years. The Bank has been serving customers of this town and surrounding towns for over 150 years and it is with pride that we show our support to the Town and its members through our participation in this anniversary."

Celebration plans include a birthday party at the selectmen's meeting on February 28, 2012, an Ole Town Day Celebration during the summer, a historical tour of North Brookfield, a historical presentation on North Brookfield during the Civil War, and a parade. Dates and times are to be announced.

Also sponsored by North Brookfield Savings Bank are commemorative anniversary calendars which feature historic photos of the town and ceramic coffee mugs adorned with the 200th anniversary town seal. Calendars are now available for purchase at the Haston Free Public Library and the town offices in the Duncan Building. Mugs will be available around early February at the same locations.
